As a Canadian company, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal privacy law governing how private-sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information in the course of commercial activities.
PIPEDA is based on 10 Fair Information Principles that form the foundation of our privacy practices. Below, we explain how SeoSync adheres to each principle.

The 10 Fair Information Principles
1. Accountability
Organizations are responsible for personal information under their control.
How SeoSync complies:
- We have appointed a Privacy Officer responsible for ensuring PIPEDA compliance across all operations.
- Our team receives regular training on privacy best practices and data protection protocols.
- We maintain comprehensive policies and procedures to safeguard personal information.

2. Identifying Purposes
Organizations must identify the purposes for which personal information is collected.
How SeoSync complies:
- We clearly communicate why we collect personal information at or before the point of collection.
- Personal information is collected to provide SEO auditing, keyword tracking, competitor analysis, and reporting services.
- Account information (email, name, organization) is used for authentication, billing, and customer support.
- We document the purposes of data collection in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
3. Consent
Knowledge and consent are required for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information.
How SeoSync complies:
- By creating an account, you consent to our collection and use of personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
- We obtain express consent before collecting sensitive information or using data for purposes beyond those originally identified.
- You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or deleting your account (subject to legal and contractual restrictions).
- We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Limiting Collection
Organizations shall limit the collection of personal information to what is necessary.
How SeoSync complies:
- We only collect personal information that is necessary to provide our SEO services and maintain your account.
- Account creation requires minimal information: email address, name, and password.
- We do not collect unnecessary personal data or use third-party tracking scripts.
- Data collection is proportional to the services you use and features you enable.
5. Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those identified, except with consent.
How SeoSync complies:
- Personal information is used only for the purposes disclosed at collection: service delivery, billing, and support.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
- Data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the identified purposes or as required by law.
- When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
6. Accuracy
Personal information shall be as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as necessary.
How SeoSync complies:
- You can update your account information (name, email, organization) at any time through your account settings.
- We encourage users to keep their information current to ensure accurate service delivery.
- If you identify inaccurate information, contact us at privacy@seosync.ca and we will correct it promptly.
- We verify billing information with payment processors to ensure accuracy.
7. Safeguards
Personal information shall be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
How SeoSync complies:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security) and encrypted at rest.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt, a secure one-way hashing algorithm.
- Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS in North American data centers with industry-leading security controls.
- Access to personal information is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.
- We implement role-based access controls, regular security audits, and vulnerability assessments.
8. Openness
Organizations shall make information about their policies and practices readily available.
How SeoSync complies:
- Our Privacy Policy is publicly accessible and written in clear, understandable language.
- This PIPEDA Compliance page transparently explains how we adhere to each Fair Information Principle.
- Our Privacy Officer is available to answer questions about our privacy practices at privacy@seosync.ca.
- We notify users of any material changes to our privacy policies and practices.
9. Individual Access
Upon request, individuals shall be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information.
How SeoSync complies:
- You have the right to access your personal information held by SeoSync at any time.
- You can view and download your account data directly from your dashboard and settings pages.
- To request a copy of all personal information we hold about you, contact privacy@seosync.ca.
- We will respond to access requests within 30 days or as required by applicable law.
10. Challenging Compliance
Individuals shall be able to challenge an organization's compliance with PIPEDA principles.
How SeoSync complies:
- If you have concerns about our privacy practices, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@seosync.ca.
- We will investigate all complaints and respond promptly with a resolution or explanation.
- If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
- We take all privacy concerns seriously and are committed to continuous improvement.
Data Hosting & Security
Canadian Infrastructure
All SeoSync data is hosted on AWS infrastructure in North American data centers. Your data is processed and stored in compliance with Canadian privacy laws.
Encryption Everywhere
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using industry-standard encryption. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt.
No Third-Party Tracking
We do not use third-party tracking scripts or sell your data. No cookies for advertising or analytics from external providers.
Data Retention
Data is retained only as long as necessary. When you delete your account, your personal information is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your Rights Under PIPEDA
As a Canadian resident, you have the following rights under PIPEDA:
- Right to Access: Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal and contractual obligations).
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information.
- Right to Complain: File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have not complied with PIPEDA.
